Child support for children over 18

What you need to know

As a parent obligated to pay child support, you may be wondering what happens when your child turns 18. Turning eighteen doesn't automatically mean you stop paying child support.

You will only be able to cancel child support payments if:

  1. Your child is of legal age (18 years old) and; ;
  2. Your child is financially independent (he works and, preferably, is no longer in school).

Our family law attorneys can help you gather all the necessary documents to request the cancellation of child support if both (2) factors mentioned above apply to your situation.

In just one consultation, you will get a general idea of the process and the cost of the cancellation of child support.
